A Deaf-Led Team of Women Making a Difference

At Carron PA Support, something quite special has happened — without us ever planning it.
We are a team of nine. We are Deaf and hearing women. We come from different ethnic backgrounds, cultures, age groups and nationalities. We are all fluent in British Sign Language (BSL). And we all work together to support Deaf people in the community.
What we didn’t plan was this - We are entirely female.
It wasn’t a strategy. It wasn’t a recruitment policy. It’s simply the way things have evolved in our sector. We have actively tried to recruit male staff — and we remain open to that — but for now, our team is made up of women. And it works incredibly well.
On International Women's Day 2026, the theme is Give to Gain. That message feels particularly meaningful to us.

What “Give to Gain” Means in Our Work
The theme calls for a mindset rooted in generosity, collaboration and shared progress. It recognises that when individuals, organisations and communities invest in women, opportunities expand, systems strengthen and societies thrive. We see this every single day.
When we give:
Time to attend appointments
Skill in interpreting and communication
Patience with paperwork and systems
Advocacy in challenging environments
Emotional reassurance in unfamiliar spaces
Our clients gain:
Confidence
Independence
Access
Reduced anxiety
A stronger voice
This is reciprocity in action.
And it doesn’t stop with our clients.
Women Supporting Women
Within our own team, we give to one another too. We share knowledge. We mentor. We cover for each other when life demands flexibility. We celebrate successes. We debrief after difficult situations.
Because we are Deaf-led, lived experience is central to how we operate. Deaf women supporting Deaf people brings depth, understanding and authenticity. Hearing women fluent in BSL working alongside Deaf colleagues creates strong, respectful partnerships.
We give collaboration.We gain strength.
Diversity Is Our Strength
Our team reflects diversity across ethnicity, age and nationality. That diversity matters. It means different perspectives at the table. It means cultural awareness. It means broader understanding of the communities we serve.
“Give to Gain” is not just about individual generosity — it’s about collective growth.
When diverse women are empowered:
Services improve
Communication strengthens
Communities become more inclusive
Supporting Deaf Women in Particular

International Women’s Day is also a reminder that Deaf women can face layered barriers — communication barriers, gender inequality, access to services and representation in decision-making spaces.
By investing in Deaf women whether as staff members or as clients, we are contributing to something bigger than day-to-day support work. We are contributing to equity. When Deaf women are heard, communities gain.
Looking Forward
We remain open to growing our team, including welcoming male colleagues in the future. But today, we celebrate the reality of who we are: a collaborative, skilled, compassionate team of women making a difference every day.
At Carron PA Support, Give to Gain is not just a theme for 2026. It is how we operate.
When we give opportunity to women, we gain stronger organisations. When we give support to Deaf people, we gain empowered communities. When we work together, we all thrive.
This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the power of women — not just in leadership, but in everyday action.
Because when women rise together, everyone benefits. 🌸
