A typical respite day

A respite 4 hour support day today which involved:

Tea, Chat & watching old comedy sitcoms. Assisted with making lunch to retain their independence, I made the sandwiches, he made the tea. Outdoor walk with their dog in fresh air for 45 mins. Assistance with online shopping order. Showing me videos of things that interest him on YouTube. Ensuring medication was taken at designated times.

This is all person-centred to suit the clients needs and allowing their own choice and control over what they would like to do.

By doing this, allowed his wife a much needed break to enjoy a day out with her friends knowing he is safe with me and has full communication access.

Later, I will go back again to assist with dinnertime and check all is ok before his wife returns. This gives her peace of mind knowing he is safe.
